Pricing Update
Posted 1/24/2008
The steel industry in the U.S. has
announced dramatic price increases over the last few months. These increases are
expected to continue through the first half of 2008. Scrap prices have increased
to approximately $400 / ton and energy costs remain very high.
As a result, prices for structural
tubing and pipe have risen from $140 to $160 / ton since November, 2007. Major
Mills have announced 5-7 % price increases on DOM tubing, and ERW tubing has
also risen accordingly. Steel bar surcharges have increased about 4.00 cwt. Future changes will be
posted to our website on a regular basis.
